When looking on the internet for information on the most used room in the house, it is hard to find a research article that can factually answer that question with statistical quantification. Looking at the pages of search results, that include a Pinterest board and an opinion poll, the straw poll results are definitely pointing to the kitchen as the most used room in the house. Surprised? Probably not. The results included facts about kitchens being the room that you spend the most time in, a kitchen is one of the more valuable rooms that people look at for resale and it is the room in the house that has the most childhood memories for a lot of people.

Homeowners that choose to remodel the kitchen also have to consider the many choices that have when considering the items that go along with a kitchen remodel:

Any other article you read on the subject of remodeling your kitchen, will advise you to start with a budget. Any good remodeling contractor will work with you on staying within the budget you set for the project. With all the items that can be included in a remodeled kitchen, the item you will spend a larger percentage of the kitchen renovation budget will be: the Kitchen Cabinets.

If you are like most homeowners, and do your fair share of baking, mixing, cooking (or microwaving, hey, if you do it in the kitchen it is cooking) in the most used room of the house, you can never have enough storage space, aka, kitchen cabinets. Of course, different sized homes and kitchens have their proportionate share of cabinetry. The larger the home, the larger the kitchen and the more cabinets you have to remodel. We have seen a trend lately towards smaller kitchens using a more open shelving concept, which opens up the kitchen area space, giving the illusion of more space in the kitchen. Having shelves that store and stack your dishes can mean you need to be more organized as your appliances and dishware is now out for anyone to see. If you are a homeowner remodeling a smaller kitchen with traditional style doors to an open shelving concept some of the options that are available may not be right for you but your budget for kitchen cabinets will go much further.

The days of only being able to replace your kitchen cabinets are long gone. However, if you are looking to completely replace your cabinets with customized cabinets there are several wood choices that are available for you to choose from: birch, cherry, knotty alder, mahogany, maple or oak.
