New wood choices that last a lifetime

Some interesting choices for wood decks today are Epay and Caballa wood. Epay is a hardwood from Brazil that essentially lasts a lifetime. It requires less staining and resists shrinkage. It is bug and rot resistant.

A deck is an addition that can be done quickly, but this is a project that needs careful consideration. Using the correct screws and nails for pre-treated lumber will ensure the nails do not corrode the deck with weather changes. When we install a deck, we come back the next season to stain it. The wood that we use needs time to dry out. Also, trying to install a deck when the temperature is too hot and humid ensures that the wood will more than likely shrink within a month! We use an end grain sealer on our decks so the wood we use is the same today, tomorrow and next year!

It’s the little things that separate the way we do our work from the way other companies do theirs. It is our attention to detail and the fact that just completing a job is not good enough. The job we do has to look and function in the best way possible. For us, that means taking the time to do the deck right. Even it means, we don’t charge our customer this summer to apply stain and that we come back next summer, when the wood is dry and the wood is capable of absorbing the stain for the best look and function possible.

A screened porch affords a homeowner the fresh outdoor air of a deck with the protection of screening which safeguards any furniture and equipment, such as a TV, ceiling fans, area rug or audio equipment, you place inside.
